ASSESSMENTS & EVALUATION

Educational Assessment are the key to understanding how a student learns

Would you like to know more about how your child learns?

Educational assessments evaluate how an individual processes information, as well as their current levels of academic achievement. These assessments identify how a student’s learning profile and processing abilities allow them to access and interact with academic material.

The assessment process includes review of academic records and developmental history, as well as parent and teacher questionnaires. Access to previous assessments and records of any other professionals that child has worked with might be requested, depending on the assessment being done.

Testing spans 1-8 hours and is generally broken up into multiple sessions, depending on what areas are being assessed. Some areas of assessment include but are not limited to: phonological processing, auditory processing, visual-motor integration, visual perceptual skills, achievement in math, achievement in reading (decoding, fluency, comprehension, accuracy), achievement in writing and more.

Following assessments, an in depth report is produced which outlines significant findings and provides recommendations for school accommodations and focused remediation. If there is any indication of a learning disability, further assessments by a psychologist might be discussed and recommended. Findings and recommendation are discussed during a follow up consultation session. Contact us to learn more about Key Learning's assessment offerings.
